This is the NEW 3D forget the TV’s we want this!!!!

The RayModeler 3D display you’re seeing in this video is a prototype. This device reminds us of star wars holographic video calling every sci-fi kids dream. LED light sources allow you to see an image from all angles, 360 degrees. Objects like faces and people appear realistic giving viewers a sense of depth because the left and right eyes are seeing different images. You’ll notice in the video the images even react and move when prompted by the wave of a hand. Though the device can’t let you see into the future, it is the future of how we will display objects, game or even see advertisements or displays at stores.
This is new 3D we want not the 3D TV’s that are coming out where you have to watch them with glasses.

ACER 3D Projector

ACER 3D Projector

We’ve barely entered 2010, yet our prediction of this being the year when 3D TV finds its way into our homes is already becoming a reality. Panasonic, Sony and Samsung have already announced 3D TVs at CES, and now Acer has launched its first 3D HD projector, the H5360.
It follows hot on the heels of LG, which unveiled the full HD 3D projector just last week. Acer itself is throwing money at 3D – it has already launched a 3D laptop plus the GD245HQ 3D monitor.
The H5360 is a DLP projector with a native 720p resolution (1,280×720) and a brightness of 2,500 lumens, which should be bright enough to use in relatively well-lit rooms. It also has a 3,200:1 contrast ratio and color compensation for non-white walls.
The three-dimensional experience is made possible by Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology that can transform the flat surface of your living room wall into a 3D screen thanks to a combination of a PC with a compatible graphic card (I.E. GeForce 8800GT) and special 3D shutter glasses.

3D shutter glasses are two lenses which synchronize with the PC. Every image is rendered twice, once for the right eye and once for the left, so that it is offset in relation to its ‘double’. The graphics card sends this information to the H5360, which works at a frequency of 120 Hz and shows even-numbered frames to the left eye and odd-numbered frames to the right eye. The 3D glasses open and shut each lens in sync with the projector; fooling your brain into thinking it’s seeing a 3D image. The battery-powered glasses work via a special infrared transmitter.

The H5360 is available to buy now and is priced around £521 including VAT. That doesn’t include the price of the shutter glasses, which cost around £100. This is our biggest gripe with 3D – you need a pair of glasses for each viewer, and it isn’t possible to watch without shutter glasses on as you’ll see a rather blurry image.

YHGfL making VC easier for schools

Yorkshire and Humber Grid for Learning are helping schools home and abroad to link up using video conferencing.  All you need is a Broadband connection (most schools), a web/video camera and a projector (almost every school) or a screen so that everyone watching can see and hear their connections.  Just be aware that video is the first thing to suffer if your projector lamp is fading.

VC can be used as part of the curriculum and allows you to bring history to life in the classroom by linking to museums and re-enacting scenes from the past.

YHGfL has access to a database of regional and national providers of VC resources, many free or at low cost.  It’s a great place to find VC sessions for your school.

VC is really easy to set up and YHGfL has loads of help and ideas that can be accessed here.

First Projector Review Mitsubish XD600U

Writing Settings ‹ Lamphouse’s Blog — WordPress.

The XD600U is 3D enabled, using DLP’s new implementation of 3D technology. While a full discussion of 3D DLP projectors is beyond the scope of this article, we have had the opportunity to look at several 3D DLP projectors, so we have included some qualitative comments on the XD600U’s 3D implementation. The bottom line is that the XD600U is a great 2D business and classroom projector first, and a great 3D projector second. With street prices around £1000, the XD600U is an attractive value for large-venue applications in business and education.
